Ongoing Opportunities with NAMI Cook County North Suburban

Volunteering for NAMI Cook County North Suburban is an important way to help us end the stigma against people with a mental health condition. The mission of NAMI CCNS is…

Ongoing Opportunities:

WE LOVE OUR VOLUNTEERS! NAMI CCNS runs on the power of generous, talented people who can give of their time and skill sets. And, we have such a variety of opportunities that we are sure to be able to incorporate you in mutually beneficial ways.

Our current needs include:

We frequently have projects and mailings that require folding, stuffing envelopes, addressing, etc. These types of "all hands on deck" efforts are associated with our quarterly mailings, end of year appeals, Gala invitations and the occasional specific event throughout the year.

Do you have a penchant for the grandiose stuff? Come work with our gala committee! They need tour brains and your brawn: Soliciting sponsors, working on the food coordination, sending out invitations, graphic arts help, setting up, driving errands, so many, many things to do...

If you are interested in helping with the April 27th 2013 Gala planning, please call the office and we will direct you to our Gala coordinator. This work will guarantee you a place in heaven!

We always need people to assist us with data entry and maintaining our many and varied marketing lists. Someone interested in this should have excellent computer skills, have experience with a database and be able to work independently and on "the team."

We need people to head up and/or be strong team players for specific events we have throughout the year. These individuals should be good with details, know how to lead or be a working member of a crew, be able to coordinate their efforts with our office, and be willing to work independently while remaining a critical part of our event team. Some of our development activities for which we need coordinators and participants include a "Tag Day" fundraiser and a NAMI WALK 2013.

If you have some experience with grant writing, or even a real penchant to dig into this area and learn, we certainly have work for you. Someone who will help us with development needs to be an excellent researcher, someone who enjoys writing and expressing themselves in strict formats, and someone who knows how to work with adjunct organizations, big and small...Do you LIKE soliciting monies and support for a cause you are passionate about? If so, please join us.

We have so many great people working with us. It would be terrific to have someone to whom all our volunteers could turn for scheduling, office support, logistics, directions, etc. Do you love working with people? Mentoring and coaching? We'd love to have you head up a volunteer program.

We frequently have a need for new FAMILY TO FAMILY or BASICS teachers. If you are a class graduate and would like to teach, let us know. We know you "get it"> Trainings are help twice a year in central IL. We'll discuss your role and when you might be able to become certified. No teaching background is required; however, an ability to connect easily with others and to be compassionate and accepting are critical skills for our teachers.

Leading our Support Groups is key to our ongoing mission. In every community we need people who have "walked the walk and talked the talk" to help others who are stil in crisis or in the throes of needing support. You can make the difference. This is generally a weekly or monthly responsibility. You need to be someone who is compassionate and works well with a variety of people.

Do you have an interest or skill that we haven't yet listed?
Are you a financial planner, mental health professional or business owner who wants to sit on our board?
A yoga instructor who would be interested in conducting therapeutic classes pro bono?
Perhaps you own a business and would be interested in sponsoring a supported employment candidate?

We have so many ideas and are sure you do too. Make us an offer ! Let's consider how to collaborate. NAMI CCNS would be delighted to have you contribute in a way that you enjoy and feel good about.

For any opportunity, please be in touch with us at 847-716-2252 or admin@namiccns.org.
