A Book Buddy (BB) is a volunteer without a dog, working with the same small group of children each week for one hour in the Little Buddies program, Tail Blazers program, or Earned Dog Visits. The first 30 minutes are spent reading a book to and with the kids (reading styles are provided during Literacy Training). The following 5 – 10 minutes after reading are spent brainstorming with the group about what they will be writing about, and for the last 20 minutes Book Buddies help their group write their own stories based on the book that was read.

Commitment: 1 hour per week for the duration of 4-8 weeks depending on the program opportunity.

Training Requirement: Volunteer Orientation and Literacy Training

Opportunities Available: Friday, Monday, Thursday, Tuesday, Wednesday Afternoons, Mornings
