Great Ways to Give Back

Founded in 2001, CCR has helped connect thousands of homeless dogs with loving homes. To date, we have proudly saved the lives of more than 8,000 dogs and puppies. The dogs in our care come from open-intake shelters, rural rescue partners with limited resources, and families who can no longer care for them. Our team provides medical treatment, emotional and behavioral support, and thoughtful adoption services to every dog who comes through our doors.

We offer a safe, welcoming landing place for dogs of all ages, sizes, and backgrounds – and we work tirelessly to help them find the people who will welcome them into their homes.

Chicago Canine Rescue is helped by all kinds, not just adopters. Whether it is through fostering, volunteering, or donating; we all work together to make our mission possible.
**Overview of Ongoing Volunteer Needs:** There’s hardly a dull moment at CCR and the kennel staff is always on their feet to ensure not only that the dogs are receiving necessary care, but that the facility itself is properly maintained. It can be difficult for the staff to balance everything that needs to be done each day, so we rely heavily on volunteers to assist with some of the basic cleaning and maintenance of the facility.

When volunteering inside the shelter you’ll be responsible for cleaning and folding laundry, dishes, sweeping/mopping, and other custodial tasks as requested by CCR staff. We try to keep the grossest chores limited to the staff, but please be aware that the shelter environment is inherently loud and smelly!

Must be at least 18+ years of age.

Please join us for AM, Mid-day, and PM shifts by signing up on our website! The dogs and our amazing kennel staff greatly appreciate it!
